So this week is Sydney's birthday. (We do birthdays by the week, not the day.) We decided we would just have a little picnic at the park since her husband is out of town for work. Don't worry Kev, we will celebrate big time when you get back! Possibly a parade, fireworks, maybe a fire-spitter, we will have to work out the deets, don't even worry about it.
Sugar cookies with royal icing are my favorite to make for special events. These are the way to go if you don't want to have the event catered professionally, but want to impress your guests. They looked so smooth when they were done drying that one of Steven's friends walked in the house and said "Woah, are those like made of glass?!" Yes, yes indeed...glass cookies. I always love at how impressed men are at the mystery of baking! ;)
The kiwis were our fave. The black dots were made with edible marker, such a life saver for making small details on cookies.
Off we drove for a binge picnic of only sweets! The only fruit salad we will eat is on that plate right there. HERE is a link to a super quick recipe for royal icing! They also have "just add water" mixes as Michael's and Walmart in the pastry section. "Just add water" anything brings happy tears to my eyes. WHY CAN"T EVERYTHING IN LIFE BE "JUST ADD WATER". Calming down now..we will definitely be posting more fun cookie inspiration in the future, so keep an eye out!
xoxo,
